May 2004. A maize cornhopper from the Philippines. It has been placed temporarily under the genus Sogatella. This is due to the characteristics of the this genus, but the aedeagus is simple without serrations (Asche and Wilson, 1989 a & b; Muir, 1916; Fennah, 1963; Wilson and Claridge, 1991). The aedeagus of this new corn planthopper pest is relatively smooth, slender with a tail-like structure at the tip.
