January 2008. A request from St Lucia for the identification of a tree or rather a weedy shrub. Nothing was said about its weediness.
It was recognised as Pluchea carolinensis (Asteraceae). There is quite a iterature on this tree from the Pacific. It is invasive in disturbed open situations in, e.g., Tonga, New Caledonia. It features on the HEAR website at:
